Security man killed in Darra blast

By Abdul Sami Paracha

KOHAT, Sept 22: A soldier was killed when a remote-controlled bomb struck an army convoy near Akhorwal area of Darra Adamkhel on Monday.

The sepoy was identified as Hameedullah. Havaldar Mohammad Sadiq, who was injured in the attack, was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital.

The army, meanwhile, arrested six suspected militants from the seminary of Maulvi Nazir and shifted them to an unknown place for interrogation.

Meanwhile, ground forces, supported by artillery and tanks, entered Darra Adam Khel on Monday after 25 days of fierce clashes with militants to secure the Indus Highway and Kohat Friendship Tunnel.

Troops pounded militants’ hideouts in Shni Kalley, Tor Chappar and other areas but there were no reports of casualties. Helicopter gunships attacked the Quality Primary School in Tor Chappar on the basis of reports that a large number of militants were sheltering there. However, no body was found when the school premises were searched.
