LJ man shifted to undisclosed location

GUJRANWALA, Sept 22: Police and intelligence agencies shifted the alleged activist of a banned outfit to an undisclosed location late on Sunday, who is linked with bombings in Rawalpindi and Karachi to kill former president Gen Pervez Musharraf and Sunni Tehrik activists.
Jamshed Mursaleen, an active member of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, and Maulana Muhammad Arshad, prayer leader at Irfat Colony mosque, were arrested from Zubaida Hanif Mosque in the People’s Colony area on Saturday.
Dawn learnt Mursaleen was the alleged mastermind of bombing in Rawalpindi targeting Gen Musharraf and activists of Sunni Tehrik in Karachi. The Interior Ministry and police had announced a Rs40 million head money for Mursaleen.
Some officials claimed that Mursaleen had links with Al Qaida, but it could not be verified or confirmed from any competent authority.
ARRESTED: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), passport cell, arrested three alleged human traffickers.
FIA officials arrested Sheikh Mumtaz in Daska, Abdul Ghafoor in Gujranwala and Mukhtar Ahmad in Gujrat.
DISMISSAL: The Wapda Town employees action committee organised a demonstration on Monday against the dismissal of 22 low-paid employees by Wapda Town administration.
The protesters reached the office of the District Coordination Officer in District Courts and chanted slogans against the town administration.
MPA Irqam Khan, leading the procession, held a meeting with DCO Pervaiz Ahmad. The DCO sought a report from the Labour department.
MEDAL WINNER: An athlete who got silver medal in Beijing Para Olympics in China was given a warm welcome in his native town of Khiali Shahpur on his return on Saturday.
Athlete Haider Ali, son of labourer Sadiq, has been taking part in national and international competitions for the last many years. Recently, he participated in Asian Games in Malaysia and won a gold medal in long jump and silver medal in discus throw. Polio crippled Ali’s right leg and arm soon after his birth, but when he grew up he opted to become a sportsman.
On his arrival in his town, people showered flowers on him and gave him a rousing welcome.
Talking to Dawn, Ali said he would continue his efforts to win more medals.
