KARACHI: Secretariat security beefed up

KARACHI, Sept 22: The provincial government has introduced special security measures to protect its offices in and around the Sindh Secretariat from possible terrorist attacks.

Cars, motorcycles and other vehicles without security stickers have been barred from entering the vicinity through the openings at the Shahrah-i-Kamal Ata Turk. All government officials working in the secretariat have been asked to obtain the security stickers and affix them prominently on their vehicles. The stickers have been made available at the office of the Secretary Services, General Administration and Coordination.

A spokesman for the Sindh government said on Monday that Deen Mohammed Wafai Road has also been made one-way and henceforth parking along its only one side would be allowed.Soon after Saturday’s suicide attack in Islamabad, police had blocked entry of all vehicles bigger than a car into the vicinity of the nearby Sindh Assembly and Sindh High Court by placing containers across the road leading to the two highly sensitive places.—Agencies
