Sharafi come from behind to win
By Our Sports Reporter
KARACHI, Sept 21: Even after going one down to Baloch Mujahid, District Malir champions Sharafi Mohammadan came back into the match to present their rivals their fifth successive loss in the KASB Premier League Football match played at the CDGK Stadium on Saturday night.
The one-sided encounter, won by Sharafi 5-1 also saw them reaching the second position on the points table with 11 points from five games. Baloch Mujahid, on the other hand, are yet to open score.
The match’s first half belonged to Baloch Mujahid who put maximum pressure on Sharafi through some fine combinations by their attack comprising Ghulam Rasool, Omar Bakhsh, Mohammad Nadeem and Taj Mohammad. The resulting goal in the 10th minute by striker Omar Bakhsh proved enough to get Sharafi’s blood boiling. The score at interval was 1-0.
The second session, however, became a different game altogether with Sharafi scoring one goal after another. Parity was restored in the 49th minute when skipper Abdul Rasheed’s corner kick was headed into the goal by striker Abdul Rahim.
Two minutes later, striker Nazeer Jr gave Sharafi their second goal with the third one coming in the 60th through striker Mohammad Azam’s powerful kick that reached the goal after bouncing off the side bar.
The 79th and 90th minutes saw midfielder Mohammad Khan scoring off his solo effort to wrap up the match in his side’s favour.
