KARACHI: Security across Sindh beefed up

KARACHI, Sept 21: In the wake of Saturday evening’s blast in Islamabad, security has been beefed up in Sindh.

The Sindh Inspector General of Police, Salahuddin Babar Khattak, issuing a directive to this effect on Sunday also directed the police authorities that there should be strict security and monitoring, especially at the religious gatherings during Yaum-i-Ali, Taraveeh prayers, etc.

He also called for enhancing the deployment of police at all important government buildings, railway stations, bus stands, parking areas, shopping centres and Eid bazaars.

The IG further directed that there should also be effective snap-checking.

The Capital City Police Officer, Wasim Ahmed, in a statement on Saturday night also appealed to the people that if they notice any suspect or suspicious object, they should immediately inform the police at ‘15.’

The CCPO also directed all the town police officers that during Ramazan, they should spend more time in their areas of duty.

He urged them to ensure adequate presence of police at all important places and shopping centres, and enhance snap-checking in their respective areas.—APP
