MITHI: Increase in Thar wheat quota to be sought

By Our Correspondent

MITHI, Sept 21: Sindh Minister for Minorities Affairs Dr Mohanlal Kohistani has said that the provincial government will be asked to increase the wheat quota for Thar to ensure supply of flour to the people of Tharparkar district where wheat is not grown.

The minister was speaking at an open katchehry in Islamkot town on Saturday.

He said the government did not believe in lip service and soon the Sindh chief minister would announce a development package for Thar.

Dr Mohanlal Kohistani said Thar coal was property of Sindh and it would get royalty of Thar coal, whereas the federal government would provide technical assistance for coal projects.

Responding to public complaints that some local influential people have unlawfully and forcibly cultivated thousands of acres of government land, Gauchar (grazing pastures)near a number of villages of the district, the minister said that the relevant authorities would be moved to take steps in this regard.
