Sajid sparkles in Karachi Gymkhana event


KARACHI, Sept 19: Veteran international Sajid Ali slammed a sparkling 70 to power Mohammad Hussain Cricket Club to a seven-wicket victory over Dubai Islamic Bank in the 23rd Karachi Gymkhana Twenty20 Ramazan cricket tournament at the KG Ground on Thursday.

Sajid belted nine boundaries while facing 52 deliveries as Mohammad Hussain CC raced to the victory target of 120 in 18.2 overs for the loss of three wickets. Wajihuddin finished undefeated on 36 with a four and a six.

Sajid and Wajih put on 104 runs for third wicket to set up the victory.

Earlier, batting first, Dubai Islamic Bank were restricted to a modest 119 for the loss nine wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Opener Usman Farhat made 27 with four boundaries and a six.

Off-spinner Saifullah Magsi caused the main damage to Dubai Islamic Bank’s batting by claiming three wickets for 20 while Amjad Manzoor claimed two for 21.

This was Mohammad Hussain CC’s second win and now they will play Sindh Police in their last match for a place in the quarter-finals.
