MIRPURKHAS, Sept 19: The sacked workers of Sattary cotton and ginning factory Mirpurkhas staged a demonstration outside press club here on Thursday and protested against depriving them of their means of livelihood.

The protesters raised slogans against the owner of the factory. They carried banners and placards, demanding of the authorities to take notice of unjustifed sacking.

They told journalists that they were working in this factory for the last 20 years while management of the factory was paying them Rs138 per day which was less than the minimum wages fixed by the government. They said that management has fixed nine working hours instead of eight hours. They said that last year they were not paid bonus.

They complained that owner of the factory had sacked them and they were experiencing financial hardship.

They called upon the Sindh chief minister to take notice of injustice and excesses of factory owner, ensure their job and implementation of labour laws in the factory.—BoC
