SHIKARPUR: New tier formed to monitor uplift works

SHIKARPUR, Sept 19: The Shikarpur district president of the People’s Party, Qazi Naeem Akbar, has been appointed the chairman of the Sindh People’s Development Committee (SPDC) for the district.

According to a notification, the DCO of Shikarpur will act as the secretary while elected MNAs, MPAs and EDOs of all the departments will be members of the committee.

The Sindh government has appointed chairmen for Sindh People’s Development Committees (SPDC) for all the districts of the province to monitor development works and design new development schemes in their respective districts.

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Sindh government.

First meeting of the Shikarpur committee was held on Thursday at the DCO secretariat’s office.

The committee discussed the schedule for completion of ongoing schemes and a formula to design development schemes in coming years. The committee also reviewed ongoing and proposed schemes in the district.

The chairman of the committee expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of some buildings of the education department. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the poor functioning of tube-wells operating under SCARP drain management Shikarpur.He directed the irrigation officials to perform their duties honestly otherwise action would be taken against negligent and inefficient officials.

He called upon all district officers and members to attend SPDC meetings.

DCO Ali Akbar Hingorio, EDO education Mumtaz Ali Bhutto and others attended the meeting.
