Maymar Sports go past Lal Bakhsh in PLF

KARACHI, Sept 18: Striker Mohammad Nasim’s goal became the match decider for District Central champions Maymar Sports when they beat District South champions Lal Bakhsh Memorial 1-0 in the KASB Premier League Football at the CDGK Stadium on Wednesday night.

The win also gives Maymar Sports 10 points, taking them to the second position on the points table after Karachi Kickers. Lal Bakhsh, meanwhile, have only one point.

The match between the two equally-matched sides saw Maymar Sports on attack from the very beginning while Lal Bakhsh adopted a defense strategy. Maymar’s strikers Mohammad Nasim, Nur Ali, Mohammad Ashraf and Sher Ahmed along with midfielders Qayum Jan and Shahnawaz kept constant pressure on Lal Bakhsh’s defenders but when it came to scoring, almost all of their attempts went way off target. The first half remained barren.

The second session again saw good coordination among Maymar’s midfielders Qayum Jan and Shahnawaz which proved beneficial for the winners in the 64th minute when striker Mohammad Nasim netted Shahnawaz’s pass with a powerful kick, which Lal Bakhsh’s goalkeeper Gulzar Hussain couldn’t do much about.

Being down by a goal prompted Lal Bakhsh to change their defense strategy to an attacking one. Their strikers Shahid, Majid, Jan Alam and Ghulam Nabi got good support from midfielders Ahmed Ali and Mohammad Ali but getting past Maymar’s goalkeeper Aziz Ahmed wasn’t so easy.
