Star XI crush HBL School Boys XI

KARACHI, Sept 17: Shahzaib Khan’s splendid batting and a good show by spinners Salman Fazal Khan and Haris Ayaz enabled Star XI to record a massive 86-run victory over HBL School Boys XI in the 23rd Karachi Gymkhana Twenty20 Ramazan cricket tournament at the KG Ground on Tuesday.

Openers Shahzaib and Wasim Naeem gave their team a great start by putting on 102 in 12 overs. Teenager Shahzaib cracked a brilliant 73 off 33 balls with ten boundaries and four sixes while Wasim made 39 as Star XI, batting first, raced to 192 for five in their allotted 20 overs.

HBL School Boys XI, in reply, were bowled out for 106 in 20 overs. Waqas Khan made 21 with two boundaries.

Left-arm spinner Salman Fazal grabbed three wickets for 14 while off-spinner Haris Ayaz got three for 22.

Shahzaib Khan received the man-of-the-match award.
