Baloch Mujahid lose fourth successive PLF match
By Our Sports Reporter
KARACHI, Sept 15: Baloch Mujahid lost their fourth successive KASB Premier League Football (PLF) match when Aurora Football Club came back into the game to win it 3-2 at the CDGK Stadium on Sunday night.
After a barren first half, the second session witnessed much excitement with as many as five goals being scored, which also included an own goal. The first goal happened in the 49th minute when Baloch Mujahid’s veteran striker Mohammad Hanif scored for his side through a penalty kick.
Then, while trying to clear Baloch Mujahid’s striker Mohammad Nadeem’s kick, Aurora’s defender Akbar Shah accidentally sent the ball into his own goal, presenting Baloch Mujahid with their second goal in the 55th minute.
With just 35 minutes of play left, it seemed like Baloch Mujahid would finally get their first tournament win when Aurora’s substitute striker Mohammad Farhan, who had only joined in after the interval, came into action in order to score three goals for his team to become the tournament’s third hat-trick scorer after Karachi United’s striker Daniyal Alvi and Sharafi Mohammadan’s Abdul Haleem.
Farhan’s first goal came in the 67th minute when he easily converted a penalty kick followed by two more in the 74th and 75th minutes. Though he got another chance to score a fourth one in the 77th minute, Baloch Mujahid’s goalkeeper Abdul Majeed was ready for him this time.
The final moments of the match saw Baloch Mujahid miss out on two easy chances. First their striker Mohammad Nadeem’s try bounced off the cross bar and then their other striker Mohammad Hanif’s powerful shot from just outside the box made Aurora’s goalkeeper Rafiullah dive towards his left in order to block it in time.
After having played four matches in their total quota of 15, Aurora have seven points and Baloch Mujahid none, making them the only side in the tournament that have yet to open their account.
