LARKANA, Sept 15: Candidates qualifying the Sindh Public Service Commission examinations for post of lecturers and waiting for appointments demonstrated outside the mausoleum of the Bhuttos in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Sunday.

They accused the Sindh chief minister of rejecting summary of their appointments although they had cleared tests of the SPSC. After receiving job offer letters they submitted documents in May 2008 with the Education Department.

They said that 640 candidates were waiting for posting orders when the Sindh chief minister rejected the summary putting in jeopardy the future of 640 lecturers. It was quite uncalled for they said and demanded the government to accommodate them.

They also appealed to President, Prime Minister, Sindh Chief Minister and education minister for sympathetic consideration.

FERTILISER: An artificial shortage of urea fertiliser and its black marketing triggered protest in Qambar on Sunday.

Growers voicing fertiliser shortage took out a procession and staged a sit-in outside the Muhktiarkar office, accusing revenue officials of following favouritism and ignoring common growers in fertiliser distribution.

A hand-made shortage was created, they said, adding that in black market a bag of fertiliser was being sold at Rs1,100 against the control rate of Rs660. They accused the traders of hoarding stocks in godowns and later selling at elevated rates.

Protestors said the paddy crop was now in a crucial phase of maturation where it badly needed third-sprinkle of urea fertiliser. It was time when paddy grains arrived at maturity they said and feared drastic affect in yield, if not treated with fertilisers.
