Six injured resisting robberies

LAHORE, Sept 15: Two robbers shot at and injured four people, including a traffic warden, and looted Rs745,000 cash in separate incidents on Monday.
The robbers, riding a motorcycle, stopped one Abdul Razzaq in Alhamd Colony of Hunjarwal and took away Rs180,000 at gunpoint which he had withdrawn from a bank in Awan Town.
They fired at him when he offered resistance. The assailants escaped towards Liaqat Chowk, Sabzazar.
The fleeing outlaws opened fire on an on-duty traffic warden, Ali Raza, suspecting that he was chasing them. The warden was left injured.
The same robbers snatched Rs565,000 from Muhammad Imran, who was returning from a bank at Sayadpur by his car. The outlaws shot at and injured him when he resisted them. They also injured a mechanic, Ilyas, when he raised alarm after witnessing the crime.
All the four victims were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Two robbers stopped Sheikh Abdul Rauf and his son Rehman on Peco Road in the limits of Kot Lakhpat police and snatched cash and cell phones from them.
They shot at Rehman when he put up resistance.
As many robbers snatched Rs180,000 from Shahbaz in Shahdara and injured him when he tried to put up resistance.
Two robbers snatched jewellery and cell phones all worth Rs150,000 from one Saeed Ahmed and his sister-in-law in Shalimar police limits while as many robbers robbed one Javed Ali and his wife of Rs10,000,jewellery and a cell phonein North Cantonment police limits.
Zareena Bibi was deprived of jewellery worth Rs300,000 in Garhi Shaho police limits while Abdul Salam and his wife were robbed of gold ornaments worth Rs200,000 in the limits of Sattokatla police.
Bomb hoax: A hoax bomb call created panic among the employees of an insurance company and staff of other offices in a building at the Bank Square on Monday.
General Manager of Atlis Insurance, Rana Arshad, received a call from an unidentified man from Karachi who claimed a bomb had been planted at the office which could go off any time.
The multi-storey building housing several offices was evacuated soon after the call.
Old Anarkali police and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) personnel rushed to the spot to avert any disaster.
Civil Lines division SP Sohail Akhtar Sukhera told Dawn the BDS officials took an hour to search the building finding no explosive device there.
