HYDERABAD, Sept 15: A family of deh Seri, taluka Qasimabad, Hyderabad, has accused the revenue department officials of tampering with the record of the land belonging to them to take over its possession, and sought intervention of the provincial revenue minister in the matter.

At a press conference at the press club here on Sunday, Allah Dino, Imam Bux, Manzoor, Mohammad Siddique, Allauddin and others said that they were the true heirs of late Basar alias Ahmed Khokhar and Mohammad Siddique Samoon, who owned 350 acres of land in deh Seri, taluka Qasimabad.

They said this fact existed in the revenue record of right but the revenue department officials, after the death of Khokhar and Samoon, had not transferred the record of the land in the names of their heirs through foti khata badal although the land was in their possession.

They said the revenue department since 1981 had filed several cases against them in the courts with a view to take over the possession of the land but all the cases were decided in their favour except the one which was pending adjudication.

They said they were prepared to accept the decision of the court in the pending case and hand over the possession of the land if it was decided against them but till such time, they should not be harassed.

They appealed to the authorities not to resort to any extra-judicial measures to take over the possession of land as it would amount to contempt of court.

FARMERS: The organising committee of Sindh Abadgar Tehrik at an urgent meeting held here on Sunday has expressed grave concern over acute shortage of irrigation water, black marketing of fertilisers, price hike and deduction in the share of Sindh’s water.

The meeting, presided over by Ghulam Mustafa Laghari, pointed out that due to the delay in the supply of water, the cultivation of Rabi crops was also delayed but now when there was an urgent need of water for the rice crop, Indus River System Authority had illegally stopped water supply to Sindh. It said that this was a conspiracy to create drought and famine like conditions in Sindh.

The meeting decided to hold a seminar at the Hyderabad Press Club on October 9 and to invite the irrigation experts and leaders of political parties and social welfare organisations to discuss the alarming situation.

It also supported the protest march of the growers from Sanghar to Nawabshah on March 16 on the issues confronting the growers, specially the shortage of water.
