KARACHI, Sept 15: The target of planting more than 150,000 trees in the city by the end of the year will be achieved through extraordinary efforts.

This was stated by City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal while directing the parks department to further speed up the green city campaign and making arrangements for greenery along all old and new roads.

Speaking at a meeting to review the measures taken during the campaign so far, he said the government was giving special attention to social sector.

The nazim was informed that the parks department had so far planted more than 80,000 trees during the campaign and another 150,000 would be planted by December.

He was further informed that 15,000 trees were planted on Sharea Faisal, 15,000 on University Road, 1,200 on New M.A. Jinnah Road, 3,000 trees on Shahra-i-Ibn-i-Sina, 7,000 each on Karsaz Road and Rashid Minhas Road and 20,000 on Shahrah-i-Pakistan.—APP
