MIRPURKHAS, Sept 13: Six bonded labourers who took refuge at an HRCP camp for liberated peasants after escaping from illegal confinement at the lands of an influential landlord led a rally of rights activists on Saturday, demanding protection and safe recovery of the rest of bonded labourers.

Talking to journalist, Sodo, Badal, Kishore, Mandosh, Utam, Ms Hurmat and Ms Keto alleged that they were forced to work at the lands of Sher Khan Samejo of Deh Gumro, Umerkot taluka for past two years. They were not allowed to meet their relatives and were not given money for treatment, they said.

They deplored that the landlord’s steward Chandomal Bhatt used to torture them and kept them under strict watch. They were not even given their share in crops and labour charges, they said.
