SWABI, Sept 13: Pakistan People’s Party local leaders have urged the provincial leadership to part ways with the Awami National Party.

They have complained that the ANP does not take the PPP district leadership into confidence on various issues.

The demand was made at a meeting held here on Saturday and presided over by PPP district president Manafat Khan. The participants expressed their dissatisfaction over the PPP’s alliance with the ANP.

The PPP leaders said that the people had attached great expectations to them and if they failed to work according to the wishes of the workers it would weaken the party position at the district level.

The participants accused the ANP of violating the pledge to work jointly and was not consulting the PPP on numerous important matters. They said that various development projects were initiated by the ANP without the consent of the PPP leadership in the district.

The meeting also expressed concern over transfer of people affiliated with the PPP from various departments and replacing them with those loyal to the ANP.

Mr Manafat said, “Our leadership decided to share the cake with the ANP leaders but its leaders refused to divide it equally”. “We never want to be at the mercy of our alliance partner. We desire and deserve equality,” said another key leader.—Our Correspondent
