Arif, Daniyal steer KESC to semis

KARACHI, Sept 12: Daniyal Ahsan’s fine half-century and Arif Mahmood’s four-wicket haul steered KESC to the AKG Twenty20 Ramazan cricket tournament semi-finals, as they beat Mohammad Hussain Cricket Club by 20 runs at the AKG Ground on Thursday.

Daniyal struck a solid 52 with the aid of three sixes and two fours and Mansoor Khan made 29 as the KESC, batting first, posted 150 for eight in the stipulated 20 overs.

Seasoned Arif captured four wickets for 25 as Mohammad Hussain CC were dismissed for 130 in 19 overs.

All-rounder Saifullah Magsi produced a fine all-round show for Mohammad CC by grabbing two wickets and scoring 39 but the effort failed to save his team from defeat.

KESC’s third consecutive victory put them at the top of the group besides giving them a place in the last-four round.

Summarised scores:

KESC 150-8 in 20 overs (Daniyal Ahsan 52, Mansoor Khan 38, Sarfaraz Ahmed 26; Saifullah Magsi 2-25, Ali Hussain 2-30); MOHAMMAD HUSSAIN CC 130 in 19 overs (Saifullah Magsi 39, Babar Khan 28, Adnan Akhtar 27; Arif Mahmood 4-25, Misbah Khan 2-14).—APP
