Three killed in road accidents

OKARA, Sept 12: Three people were killed while a police officer sustained severe injuries in separate road accidents on Friday. Reports said Qazi Sarwar along with his son, Sajid, was on the way to Chak 32/2-L by a motorcycle. Near the village, their bike hit the rear side of a tractor while overtaking it. As a result, Sarwar died on the spot while his son luckily remained unhurt.

In the second incident, Waqas was going to Lahore when his car developed a fault on GT Road near Adda Kissanwala. Responding to his call for help, Motorway police officer Khadim rushed to the spot.

Khadim and Waqas were reviewing the situation while standing nearby the car when a speeding NLC trailer knocked both of them down. Consequently, Waqas died on the spot while Khadim sustained serious injuries. He was shifted to a hospital.

An unidentified youth died instantly when a speeding truck knocked him down near Adda Truck on GT Road.

Police have registered separate cases.

SNATCHED: Three bandits injured a security guard on resistance during a dacoity at a filling station on GT Road near Renala Khurd on Friday.

The dacoits later fled after snatching Rs12,000 cash and a cell phone from the cashier. Police have registered a case.

ARRESTED: Okara police claimed to have arrested seven cattle-lifters and recovered eight animals, two cell phones, two shotguns and three pistols from them on Friday.

Those arrested were identified as Muhammad Sharif, Muhammad Amir, Shakoor, Ali, Waris, Manzoor and Imran.
