QUETTA, Sept 11: Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani has said that the small federating units should be given equal rights in accordance with the Pakistan Resolution of 1940.

Taking to newsmen after returning from Islamabad on Thursday night, he said all political and nationalist forces in the province should be associated in efforts to resolve the issues of Balochistan and bring it at par with other federating units.

“Balochistan should be developed in accordance with the wishes of its people,” he said.

He said that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani believed in solving the problems of Balochistan through political dialogue. “They have recognised the legitimate rights of people of the province.”

He said the country was facing various crises, including terrorism, unemployment, inflation and poor economic situation. “All the democratic forces should support the federal government in its efforts to resolve the issues,” Mr Raisani said. He said that foreign policy should be reviewed in consultation with all democratic forces.

The chief minister said that during a meeting with the president he had invited him to visit Balochistan and he accepted the invitation.
