RAWALPINDI, Sept 11: An anti-terrorism court here on Thursday extended for seven days the physical remand of a suspected suicide bomber arrested from outside the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) in Wah Cantonment soon after the twin attacks last month.

ATC-II Judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahot remanded Hameedullah Mehsud of South Waziristan into the physical custody of the Wah police for seven days after the investigators sought his 10 days further remand. He has been in their custody for the last 20 days.

The police submitted that the investigation officer of the case had been changed and they needed more time to complete their probe. The investigators said they wanted to arrest Amir Mohammad and other men for their role in the twin suicide bombings and to learn about the terrorist group and its hideouts.

The investigators said on the information obtained from Hameedullah, they had recovered suicide vests, hand grenades and other explosives from Akora Khattak in Nowshera district on August 25 and a case was registered against him with the area police.

Police earlier obtained 20 days remand of the accused – first on August 23 and later on September 1. A suicide vest was seized from the toilet of a nearby mosque.

The two suicide bombings on August 21 killed at least 70 people and wounded over 100 more.
