KARACHI, Sept 11: The 60th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, was observed in Karachi, like other parts of the country, with due reverence and solemnity on Thursday.

Special prayers and Quran Khwani were held in mosques and at various places in the city where people offered fateha for the Quaid’s soul and prayed for the solidarity and integrity of Pakistan and prosperity of the nation.

Seminars and symposia were organized by many organisations to pay homage to the father of the nation and eulogize his great services to the Muslims of the subcontinent which led to the creation of their independent and sovereign homeland.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, provincial ministers and senior federal and provincial officials visited the Quaid’s mausoleum.

They offered fateha for the departed soul and laid wreaths on his grave.

Naib City Nazim, Nasreen Jalil also visited the mausoleum and laid a wreath on behalf of Karachi citizens.—Agencies
