Royal Loyalty set to prove faithfulness
By Anwar Zuberi
KARACHI, Sept 9: A mediocre card of six races has been drawn for the Gymkhana race meeting which gets into action at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday.
Though all the horses are running regularly at the same time they are showing no form worth for reasons best known to their owners.
Royal Loyalty, an eight-year-old chestnut mare, who stormed to an exciting six lengths victory under rider Arshad to present his new owner-cum-trainer Ibrahim with a winner on Aug 31, has the potential to come out with shining performance again.
Drawn in a field of nine runners in the five furlongs fourth race, she starts as our day’s best and should prevail over Muskhi and Hamza Joy.
Seven-year-old mare Blind Date who finished off the board in the last meeting is likely to atone for the loss should she pick up the next race which is also the feature event.
Six horses are in fray for honours and on current form Blind Date looks a better bet. Those who come in reckoning for places are Leopard Of Arab and Dark Secret.
Four-year-old bay colt Die-Na-Might is set to rule the sixth race by completing hat trick.
The colt from the stables of Syed Ismail Shah has been promoted to division II of class VII after winning two back-to-back races in lesser divisions, IV and III with experienced jockey Shabbir astride.
He is likely to be chased by Bullet Of Arab and John Player among 15 contestants.
Mare Victory Prince is fancied to land the opener while mare Marista should make amends by claiming the second. Bay Haroon Prince may overcome the opposition by landing the third race.
The first race begins at 2.00pm.
