Haj quota report clarified

ISLAMABAD, Sept 9: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr, Hamid Saeed Kazimi, issued a clarification on Tuesday about his Monday’s statement in the Senate with regard to discrimination in allocation of Haj quota to private tour operators on recommendations of lawmakers.

He said his statement had been published by some newspapers with exaggeration and given undue colour.

He said: “Whatever is said in upper and lower houses is recorded which cannot be amended or anything added to it.

“I had said only that voters have their pressures even if it is mere councillor’s election while this was presidential election, even then we honoured the wishes of our parliamentarians only to some extent and those who could not be accommodated were unhappy with me.”

Leader of the House Raza Rabbani, he said, had immediately clarified the position after getting information from him (Mr Kazimi) so that no misunderstanding was created by his statement.
