KARACHI, Sept 9: The Pakistan Medical Association on Tuesday condemned the killing of a professor by alleged fanatics and demanded immediate arrest of killers.

The doctors’ association stated that Dr Abdul Mannan Siddiqui was a committed professional who was known for his professional skills, competence and honesty. Dr Siddiqui not only served the patients of his jurisdiction, Mirpurkhas town, but also went beyond to serve the patients of other districts.

His murder in broad daylight spread fears amongst the medical community. The PMA regretted that while it always had raised voice over doctors’ killings the government never showed any cognizance of such matters.

The PMA said laxity of the government resulted in recurrence of such incidents and demanded of the authorities concerned to take stern action against the culprits and provide protection to the medical community.—PPI
