KARACHI: SPLA chief passes away

KARACHI, Sept 8: President of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) Prof Syed Riaz Ahsan died in a local hospital on Monday after a protracted illness. He was 56.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Sadia Riaz, a senior lawyer associated with the provincial law department.

Vice-Chancellor of the Karachi University Dr Pirzada Qasim (brother-in-law of the deceased), Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai, Director-General of Colleges, Sindh, Prof Rafique Ahmed Siddiqui and Prof Tipu Sultan were among those who offered his funeral prayers.
