KARACHI, Sept 7: Shahzaib Khan returned with excellent match figures of ten dismissals which paved way for Karachi’s emphatic ten-wicket victory over Faisalabad in the three-day PCB Inter-regional U-19 cricket championship at the PCB Academy Ground on Sunday.

Shahzaib destroyed Faisalabad batting in the second innings with a deadly bowling performance as he grabbed six wickets for 62 runs in 24.4 overs after taking four wickets for 38 runs in the first innings.

He ended with match figures of ten wickets for 100 runs.

Faisalabad crashed at 185 all out in 61 overs after having made 157 in their first outing.

Shahzaib got a good support from left-arm pacer Abdul Ameer who snapped up three top wickets for 59 runs.

Zaheer Hamza hit a valiant knock of 58 with 11 sizzling boundaries.

Saqib Suleman hit six boundaries in his 37 and Hasan Mahmood returned undefeated on 35 which contained four hits to the boundary.

Match ended half an hour after lunch break on the final day as Karachi which needed just six runs collected full nine points for their first win.

The other three-day match played between Karachi Whites and Peshawar at the Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar, drew on Sunday.

Karachi Whites took first innings lead over Peshawar in the match which was badly hit by rain on the first two days.

Batting first, Peshawar scored 225 runs all out after playing 67.2 overs. Asif Khan (58), M. Rizwan (44) and Abdur Raheem (33) were leading scorers.

Junaid Ilyas took three wickets while Osama Basharat two.

Karachi Whites, which were six for no loss at the end of play on day two, started their innings and scored 321 runs for the loss of four wickets after playing 78 overs.

Middle-order batsman Rameez Aziz smashed an elegant century (143) after playing 136 balls with 14 boundaries and four sixes.

He was supported well by Irfan Khan Lodhi who scored 60 runs off 133 balls with six boundaries and one six.
