CDGL to fix roti price at Rs2

LAHORE, Sept 7: The city district government of Lahore has decided finalising modalities to fix the official price of Roti at Rs2 per piece.
Presiding over a meeting on Sunday, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta formed a three-member committee that would submit suggestions in this regard within 48 hours.
Comprising finance executive district officer, environment district officer and revenue deputy district officer, the committee would also devise a strategy and measures to ensure sale of roti at the official price after holding talks with representatives of Naanbai Association.
The committee would also determine the estimated cost, including labour and other overhead charges for four rotis out of a kilo flour.
“In the wake of availability of flour at the official rate of Rs300 per 20kg bag, it is now the duty of tandoor and restaurant owners to give relief to the people during Ramazan and announce that they will sell roti for Rs2 per piece,” the DCO said.
FLOUR: The District Coordination Officer (DCO) has said that flour shortage in the provincial metro- polis had completely been controlled.
Talking to reporters after inspecting Ramazan Bazaars in Township, Model Town, Johar Town, Green Town, Wahdat Colony, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Islampura, Shadman, Tajpura, Shalimar Bagh and Ghaziabad here on Sunday, he said that six to eight trucks of flour remained available at all the bazaars throughout the day but a negligible number of buyers was witnessed there.
The DCO got a stallholder in Green Town Bazaar arrested for selling dates for Rs80 per kg instead of fixed price of Rs50 per kg. A show-cause notice was issued to the town municipal officer for shortage of potatoes and onions in the bazaar.
He also ordered issuing show-cause notice to market committee inspector for sale of onions above the fixed price.
The DCO got vegetable ghee sold at the rate of Rs118 per kg at Gulshan-i-Ravi, Tajpura and Shalimar Sunday Bazaars instead of Rs143 per kg.
