LAHORE, Sept 7: The city district government of Lahore has decided finalising modalities to fix the official price of Roti at Rs2 per piece.

Presiding over a meeting on Sunday, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta formed a three-member committee that would submit suggestions in this regard within 48 hours.

Comprising finance executive district officer, environment district officer and revenue deputy district officer, the committee would also devise a strategy and measures to ensure sale of roti at the official price after holding talks with representatives of Naanbai Association.

The committee would also determine the estimated cost, including labour and other overhead charges for four rotis out of a kilo flour.

The DCO got a stallholder in Green Town Bazaar arrested for selling dates for Rs80 per kg instead of fixed price of Rs50 per kg. A show-cause notice was issued to the town municipal officer for shortage of potatoes and onions in the bazaar.

He also ordered issuing show-cause notice to market committee inspector for sale of onions above the fixed price.
