Karakoram Highway reopened

By A Correspondent

GILGIT, Sept 7: The Karakoram Highway that was blocked at Thore in the Diamer district due to flashfloods and landsliding has been reopened by the Frontier Works Organisation.

Hundreds of vehicles were stranded due to the blockade of the highway.

Meanwhile, Gilgit and other areas of the region received heavy rains that turned the weather cold, compelling people to take out woollies.

The peaks of mountains have been covered with snow.

The inclement weather also hampered Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights between Gilgit and Islamabad.
