Overwhelming win for Asif in Sindh

By Habib Khan Ghori

KARACHI, Sept 6: Asif Zardari bagged all valid votes in the Sindh Assembly. Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui and Mushahid Hussain Syed failed to secure any vote.

The Sindh Assembly comprises 168 members, but due to litigation over two seats its present strength is 166.

According to unofficial results, a total of 163 votes were cast in the presidential polls. Asif Zardari polled 162 votes while one was declared invalid.

Three legislators could not make it. Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, the former chief minister, was in Dubai, Dr Muhammad Ali Shah (MQM) in London while Sardar Nadir Khan Magsi failed to get a flight from Quetta for Karachi because of bad weather.
