Second-rate edibles: official suspended

By Our Correspondent

KASUR, Sept 6: The market committee secretary was suspended from service on Saturday for his failure to check the sale of substandard edibles in Ramazan bazaars.

Chief Minister’s Task Force chairman S.A Hameed and Secretary Labour Muhammad Ali Gardezi paid a surprise visit to Ramazan Bazaar and fair price shops and found putrid vegetables and fruits on sale.

The buyers complained that the practice was going on since the beginning of Ramazan and that the market committee staff never bothered to visit markets.

Mr Hameed also directed to reduce the price of ghee from Rs125 per kilogram to Rs122 per kilogram.

The task force chairman (CMTF) chairman asked the people to contact him at 042-9239378-79 for complaints regarding overcharging and selling of second-rated foodstuffs.
