Zardari’s success hailed all over Punjab

Dawn Report

SAHIWAL, Sept 6: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers and office-bearers have widely celebrated the success of Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election.

In Sahiwal, PPP activists organised rallies, displayed fireworks and staged folkdances to celebrate Mr Zardari’s success. Motorcyclists with PPP flags rallied through main bazaars and raised pro-PPP and pro-Zardari slogans. PPP district vice-president Zaki Chaudhry said Zardari’s election as president was a good omen for the poor.

On this occasion, sweats were distributed among people. Banners inscribed with ‘Welcome, well-done: President Zardari’ were installed in various parts of the city.

In Okara, thousands of PPP activists took out a rally that was led by provincial minister Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sohna and PPP central leader Arif Chaudhry.

Later, a fireworks show was arranged and sweets were distributed. Such activities were also seen in Renala Khurd and Depalpur.

In Sheikhupura, a large number of PPP activists took out a rally and took to Sargodha Road to mark Zardari’s election as president of Pakistan.
