BATKHELA: Cancellation of doctors’ transfer urged

By Our Correspondent

BATKHELA, Sept 6: Leaders of the District Coordination Council have warned of a protest demonstration if the government did not cancel transfer of two doctors of the District Headquarter Hospital, Batkhela, recover a kidnapped boy and issue benevolent fund by Sept 15.

The warning came at meeting held here on Saturday under council chief Dr Saeedur Rehman.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr Rehman said offices of administration officials in the Batkhela hospital had become a centre of political wrangling. He alleged that postings and transfers were being made on political grounds, instead of merit.

He claimed that the recent transfers of a general surgeon and a skin specialist had been made on the basis of political affiliation. He warned the authorities to cancel the order in a week, otherwise they would take to the streets.

Other representatives of the council, Fareedullah, Rahmatullah and Ghulam Sarwar from teachers’ unions, demanded immediate implementation of an order regarding issuance of benevolent fund, which has been withheld for five years.

They called for taking steps to get released an 18-year-old son of superintendent Safdar Ali, who was kidnapped a week ago and the kidnappers were demanding Rs10 million for his release.
