Saif shines for MHCC in close win

KARACHI, Sept 4: Saifullah Magsi produced a fine all-round performance to guide Mohammad Hussain CC to a thrilling six-run win against Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in the 23rd Karachi Gymkhana State Life Ramazan Cricket Festival at the KG Ground here on Thursday.

Saifullah first scored 24 off 23 balls as Mohammad Hussain CC reached 157 for nine in their 20 overs. Later, Saifullah chipped in with three late wickets with off-spinners to bowl out RBS for 151. The most crucial contribution was Saifullah bowling four scoreless deliveries in the final over of the match with RBS requiring eight runs.

Mohammad Rizwan was Mohammad Hussain CC’s top-scorer as he struck four fours and one six in making 33 off only 22 balls. Behram Khan lashed 29 off 17 balls with four boundaries.

Former Pakistan opener Imran Nazir captured three for six in two overs with his off-spinners while Asad Ali Younis took two for 29.

The main scorers for RBS were Asad Ali Younis (42 off 31 balls, five fours and one six), Adnan Akmal (36 off 29 balls, two fours) and Imran Nazir (29 off 13 balls, three fours and one six). Apart from Saifullah, slow left-armer Nauman Alvi also excelled with the leather for the winning side by taking two for 16 in four overs.
