RBS score easy win in AKU opener

KARACHI, Sept 4: Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) scored a comfortable six-wicket victory over AKU Faculty & Staff in the opening match of the fourth AKU Sports Centre Twenty20 Ramazan Colour Kit cricket tournament at the AKU Sports Centre Ground here on Wednesday.

After former Pakistan paceman Jalaluddin declared open the tournament, AKU Faculty & Staff made 159-8 in their 20 overs, having elected to bat first at the toss.

Razi Mughal was the top-scorer for the hosts with 36. Rashid and Salman Butt claimed three wickets apiece.

RBS lost only four wickets in reaching their target with seven deliveries remaining. Hasan Masood (43 not out, three fours), Wajid Ali (32, five boundaries) and Ali Younis (29, four fours and one six) were the chief run-getters for the winners.

AKU FACULTY & STAFF 159-8 in 20 overs (Razi Mughal 36, Noor Ali 28; Rashid 3-23, Salman Butt 3-32);

ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND 161-4 in 18.5 overs (Hasan Masood 43 not out, Wajid Ali 32, Ali Younis 29; Jahangir Khan 2-15, Kamran Pirvani 2-24).
