‘Rs1.4m looters held within two hours’

SIALKOT, Sept 4: The local police claimed to have arrested two of the four robbers within two hours of the dacoity incident in which Rs1.4 million were looted from the State Life Insurance head office on Paris Road here on Thursday.
DPO Capt Muhammad Ameen (retired) told reporters that four bandits entered the office, held the staff and clients hostage and escaped after looting Rs1.4 million in cash.
The DPO said on a tip-off that culprits were hiding at a den in Pakpura, a team led by DSP Waseem Akhtar, raided there and arrested two accused, Rafiq and Sajid Masih, and also recovered the looted money from them.
He said accused Rafiq was a watchman and Sajid Masih was a token operator in the same office.
Police have sent both the accused behind bars.
LOOTED: Three dacoits barged in a seminary in Mitraanwali village in Daska, made hostage Hafiz Tariq and escaped after collecting thousands of rupees in cash and mobile phones from him and students.
Bambaanwala police have registered a case.
SHOT DEAD: A labourer was shot dead on resistance during a dacoity incident in Mangu Behram locality late on Wednesday.
Reports said Mulazim Husain, 35, was on his way when armed men waylaid him and shot him dead when he offered resistance. The dacoits-cum-killers escaped after snatching from him a mobile phone and cash.
