DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 4: Unidentified miscreants tried to blow up the bridge on inter-provincial Dera–Quetta road in tribal area some 50 kms from here.

Reports said an explosive device had been planted under Tahli Wala Pul in the vicinity of Rakhi Gaaj checkpoint manned by Border Military Police.

BMP Resaldar Waqar Qaisrani told Dawn the saboteurs could not cause any serious damage to bridge as blast occurring around 10.30pm was of low-intensity.

He said the bridge had been opened for the traffic soon after the blast. He further maintained that staff concerned, including Civil Defense personnel and bomb disposal squad, have reached the spot to find out the nature and make of the explosive.

It was 26th blast which occurred in the district in last two-and-a-half years.
