KOHAT: Militants blow up gas facility in Kohat

KOHAT, Sept 4: Gas supply to Kohat Cement Company remained suspended when unidentified militants blew up a facility of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) on Siab Road in Bilitang area of Kohat on Wednesday night.

The engineer in-charge of the local office of SNGPL, Aurangzeb, told this scribe that a sales meter station was blown up in a terrorists attack which suspended gas supply to Kohat Cement Company.

The terrorist had planted four kilogram explosives in a pressure cooker at the sales meter station which exploded at 2am and caused heavy damage to the facility.

The SNGPL official said that gas supply had been restored temporarily to Kohat Cement Company and a team of engineers had been called from Wah Cantt to replace the damaged gadgets.

DISTRICT COUNCIL: The members of district council have asked the tehsil municipal officer to remove garbage from the city within three days and ensure supply of clean drinking water otherwise they would attack his office.

During a meeting here on Tuesday, Urban I union council nazim Hussain Ahmed Kakku, Urban II nazim Saleem Khan, Urban V nazim Himmatullah Khan and leader of councillors’ alliance Arshad Sanni demanded that all the sanitary inspector of grade I should be replaced by permanent staff answerable to the elected representatives.

They expressed anger over delay in the collection of the garbage by the concerned staff and demanded inquiry into the import of a Chinese tractor which had developed serious fault after one week.

They also demanded recovery of five missing transformers from the senior staff nominated in a case by the provincial local council board.

KILLED: A boy was killed in Mirozai area when security forces fired artillery shells in retaliation to an attack by militants on late Wednesday night.

Militants fired four rockets at the Gunner Lane area of Kohat Cantonment from where the security forces had been pounding their hideouts on the mountains of Darra Adamkhel for the past seven days.

The security forces started firing artillery in retaliation as a result a boy Maaz son of Abdul Haseeb was killed in Mirozai area when a shell fell at a house, sources said.
