KARACHI, Sept 4: Three people, including a eunuch, were killed on Thursday in violent acts in different parts of the city, police and witnesses said.

A 35-year-old man was killed and another young man wounded when they were caught in crossfire between rival gangsters in a neighbourhood of the mafia-infested Lyari.

Baghdadi police said the victims were sitting outside their house at Shah Baig Lane in the small hours when they received bullet wounds.

They said that Mohammed Rizwan, son of Mohammed Ashraf, and Fiyyaz, son of Allah Buksh, were taken to the Civil Hospital where Rizwan succumbed to his wounds.

Hospital sources said that the dead man, an employee of the Karachi Port Trust, had received a bullet wound to the chest that proved fatal. Fiyyaz is in a stable condition, they added.

Gul Jahan, the brother of victim Rizwan, reported to the police that he heard gunshots some time after 1.30am and came out of his house to find his brother and their neighbour shot and wounded.

He lodged a case against unknown gangsters for killing his brother.

Found shot dead

The Boat Basin police said that a 40-year-old eunuch was found shot dead at a service lane near Bilawal House in the early hours of Thursday.The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

Sources at the JMPC’s medico-legal department told Dawn that the victim had been shot a single bullet from a point-blank range as it went through his chest.

Identified as Fida Mohammed, the victim lived here with his fellows at a shared accommodation in Shirin Jinnah Colony. He hailed from Sargodha.

The police said the unknown culprits shot the man dead some time after midnight.

A murder case against unknown culprits was registered by the Boat Basin police on behalf of the state.

Stabbed to death

The body of a man, who had been stabbed to death, was found at a desolate place near Ali Mohammed Goth, North Karachi.

Sir Syed Town police said the body was wrapped in a bed-sheet and it was spotted at around 7.30am.

It was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the victim remained unidentified.

Hospital sources said the victim, clad in white shalwar and khaki qamees, appeared to be in his mid 30s. They said the victim received multiple stab wounds in the abdomen and upper torso.

Later, the body was kept at the Edhi Morgue for want of identification.

Motorcyclist killed

A 32-year-old man was killed and his friend injured when their motorcycle was hit by a fast-moving Shehzor truck in New Karachi at around 3.30pm.

The dead and the injured man were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital where they were identified as Ishtiaq Ahmed, son of Farooq, and Mohammed Sharif, son of Mohammed Hanif, 30.
