SUKKUR, Sept 4: Residents of Sukkur are experiencing difficulties due to low pressure of gas, particularly at the time of Sehri and Iftar.

With the advent of Ramazan, residents of many localities, including New Pind, Islam Colony, Pathan Colony, Bhoosa Lane, Golimar, Madina Colony and Old Sukkur, are facing hardship due to low pressure of gas, especially housewives are facing difficulties while preparing Sehri and Iftari.

A large number of people contacted by Dawn said that they have contacted SSGC officials in this regard, who were saying that the department was replacing old pipelines due to which pressure was decreasing.

They said that due to low pressure of gas, they were forced to purchase LPG cylinders to prepare meals. They demanded of the SSGC authorities to take notice and increase the gas pressure.

LOADSHEDDING: Scores of JUI-F activists and people staged a demonstration and sit-in at Rahbar Chowk in Thul to protest against unannounced loadshedding in Ramazan.

The protestors led by local JUI leader Maulana Abbas Noonari gathered at Rahbar chowk, while shouting slogans against Hesco and burnt tyres and staged a sit-in for two hours, suspending vehicular traffic.

On this occasion the protestors told the local journalists that, despite the announcement made by the federal minister for water and power that there would be no loadshedding during the holy month of Ramadan, the Hesco Thul officials were carrying out loadsheding for hours, due to which people were facing hardship.

Accusing the Hesco officials of carrying out unscheduled load shedding to cover up their line losses, they demanded of the federal minister for water and power to take notice of the atrocities and relieve the people of loadshedding.
