IAAF ratifies Isinbayeva’s records
MONTE CARLO (Monaco), Sept 2: Two pole vault world records set by Yelena Isinbayeva were ratified on Tuesday by the International Association of Athletics Federations, but the Russian’s most recent record set at the Beijing Olympics is still pending.
Isinbayeva first broke her own record with a vault of 5.03 metres on July 11 in Rome, bettering her jump of 5.01 that she set in Helsinki, Finland, at the 2005 world championships.
She then jumped 5.04 in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on July 29.
At the Olympics last month, Isinbayeva set her 24th world record by clearing 5.05 meters on Aug 18 at the Bird’s Nest.—AP
