LAHORE, Sept 2: A competitive card of six events has been chalked out for the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

In view of the holy month of Ramazan, the Lahore Race Club (LRC) has decided to change the race timings from day/night to day races. The first race will be held at 2.00pm and the card will be gone through at around 4.30pm to enable race goers to break their fast at home.

All races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres.

The feature event, the Badeen Plate class VI, division I and II combined, has 13 runners. Of them only two come in to reckoning on past performances of the runners.

They are: Royal Deal and Geo Super.

Four-year-old bay filly, Royal Deal, has to his credit a facile victory in the lower division of class VI on August 24. On the other hand, the six-year-old mare Geo Super registered an easy victory on Aug 10 in a relatively weak company but in a smart timing.

On pedigree, the daughter of Shogun, Royal Deal looks good while on timing the unknown mare Go Super really seems super. Geo Super’s pedgree is unknown but her confirmation says that she is from a good bloodline without certification. Who Super is will be known when both measure each other’s strides in the race.

This will be the sixth and last race of the day.

In the fifth and supporting event, the Badeen Plate, class VI, division III and IV there are nine runners barring last-minute withdrawals. On form Smore Choice, Cash Price and Shah Rani are prominent to fight for the spoils. All the three are good sprinters.

Pretty, Delux and Mahima are the pick of the nine contestants in the fourth race.

The third race has nine runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. Three of them come in to the spotlight on recent form and performances. They are: Changer, Bobby Love and Pure Power. Changer has been knocking at victory’s door for the last three running and should make up this time.

Sana My Love, Anarkali and Miss Mano look good in the second race. The mare Anarkali was beaten by poor handling of her rider. Miss Mano is not in top form yet. That leaves the first two named to decide about the winner. However, the evaluation of the performance of unknown pedigree animals is a hard task beyond any calculation. Some time they run ahead of the field and the other one would wonder to see the same horse trailing the field.

Dark-bay horse, Leader’s Wing beaten on his last outing due to bad riding should make amends and win the first race this time. Azad Panchi and Azeem Prince may be his challengers.

Anarkali 9-2, Sana My Love 9-1, Raza The Great 8-10, Best Boy 8-10, Double Victory 8-10, Miss Mano 8-10, Raftar-e-Sehar 8-10, Trigger Happy 8-2 and Shandar 8-0.

Win: Anarkali.

Place: Miss Mano and Sana My Love.

SAWAT PLATE CLASS VII DIV III 1,000M:

Pure Power 9-1, Changer 8-12, Sohna Murad 8-10, Lion Horse 8-10, Candidate 8-10, Shan-e-Aamir 8-10, Kiss Of Love 8-8, Boby Love 8-6 and Fredy’s Café 8-6.

Win: Changer.

Place: Pure Power and Boby Love.
