LAYYAH, Sept 2: The teachers and other staff of 11 primary, five middle and four high schools have been shifted to other institutions in the wake of post-flood measures.
The decision taken by the education authorities has, however, deprived thousands of students in riverine area of getting education.
The recent low-level flood in the Indus had affected the schools, both for boys and girls, at the riverine belt of Layyah tehsil.
Water is still to be cleared away from these schools and the situation has prompted the education higher-ups to shift the teaching staff and other employees of the schools.
District Officer (Secondary) Mrs Tahira Chishti told this correspondent that the students and teachers of high schools had been shifted to institutes nearby so that education of students was not disturbed.
MURDER: A mother of five children was killed allegedly by her brother-in-law in the name of honour.
The woman, who had married Muhammad Rafiq, allegedly eloped with a man, Mazhar by name, and both started living at Mandi Jahania near Multan.
Rafiq left his Chak 161 residence and moved to a place at Chak 152-TDA.
Ten days ago, the women was brought from Mandi Jahania and handed over to her husband by their close relatives. Shafique, a younger brother of Rafiq, killed the woman when she was asleep.
The body was brought to the DHQ hospital and handed over by the police to her father Ahmad Bakhsh.
The Saddar police registered a case against Shafique, Noor Ahmad and Naseer on the report of Ahmad Bakhsh.
QUACKS: The health department on Tuesday sealed 10 clinics of quacks and one of a qualified doctor because they were allegedly using veterinary medicines to treat humans.
The health department has sealed the clinics of quacks Muhammad Jehangir and Saeed Ahmed of Chak 150-TDA, Khuda Bakhsh of Aziz Farm, Muhammad Azam and Muhammad Mushtaq of Chak 123-TDA, Ghulam Yaseen of Tibbi Khurb, Muhammad Ramzan of Rajan Shah, Naveed Ahmed of Adda Khumbi, Mazhar of Hayatabad, Talib Hussain of Bhokari Adda and Dr Sajjad Ahmad Khokhar of Layyah’s Adda Aziz Farm.
