PTCL cable theft goes unnoticed

NAROWAL, Sept 2: An employee of the Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) along with some daily wagers has stolen underground telephone cables.

Residents of Ahlo Lal village, including Tariq Mahmood, Amjad Ali, Naseer Ahmed and Nasir, alleged that PTCL supervisor Amer Yousaf Shahzad, and daily wagers Abid Husain, Shafqat and Muhammad Saleem stole huge coils of telephone wires from Sialkot and brought it to the village. After removing rubber layers from coils, they sold the metal to Lahore and Gujranwala markets. They alleged that those PTCL employees had been doing the crime since long. They said they had reported the incident to senior PTCL officers and the district administration but no one took any action.

District Engineer (DE) Malik Tahir Iqbal said he had received reports of such illegal activities and had forwarded to the authorities for further action.
