MULTAN, Sept 2: District Nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar has directed the authorities concerned to fill the 570 vacant posts of teachers in the district by Oct 20.

Presiding over a meeting to review development projects in the education department here on Tuesday, the district nazim directed advertising the vacant posts in the press immediately. He also directed purchasing furniture worth Rs30 million for all the schools of the district by Oct 30.

The nazim said that the development funds of roads department would be diverted to achieve targets in the education sector if there would be any shortage of funding because no society could progress without progressing in education sector.

He said that recommendations have been forwarded to the Punjab government for the up-gradation of 28 primary, middle and high schools after conducting surveys.

The nazim said that the district government had handed over Rs50,000 to each school management council established in all schools of the district.

Meanwhile, the Punjab finance department has released Rs161.2 million monthly grant for 129 union councils of the district that had been suspended for the past two months.

According to a handout, the district nazim has directed all union council nazims to contact the office of local government assistant director to avail these funds.
