Arrangements for Sachal’s Urs

KHAIRPUR, Sept 2: A meeting of Sachal Yadgar Committee was held here on Tuesday to discuss the arrangements of 187th annual Urs of renowned Sufi poet Sachal Sarmast.

The three-day Urs is celebrated from Ramzan 14 every year in Daraza Sharif, taluka Gambat. The meeting was presided over by the committee chairman, DCO Moula Bux Larik and attended by director culture, Professor Monis Ayaz among others.

Professor Ayaz told the meeting that minister for culture and tourism Sassui Palijo wanted that Sachal literary conference be held as national conference this year and scholars and poets who have been carrying research on mysticism and Sachal Sarmast from all over the country be invited and the culture department would extend cooperation to the memorial committee in this regard.

He said that today when struggle against terrorism was going on, mysticism and Sachal Sain’s philosophy can guide people to a peaceful and secular system.

The DCO told journalists that Adabi conference, Mehfil-e-Mausiqi and Mushaira would be held in Daraza Sharif during the Urs celebrations.

It was also decided at the meeting that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah will inaugurate the Urs celebrations.

The meeting also approved the monogram to be printed on invitation cards, Sachal souvenir and Sarmast Awards.

TRANSFER: Sukkur DIG Bashir Ahmed Memon has transferred Nara taluka SPO Fida Hussain Awan and appointed Abdul Qudoos Kalwar as new SPO who took over the charge on Monday evening.

The SPO was reportedly transferred for his failure in recovery of three kidnap victims, including Nandlal and Vicky Kumar, who were kidnapped 15 days ago in the jurisdiction of Khenwari police station in Nara taluka. By Our Correspondent
