Widows protest

By Our Correspondent

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Sept 1: A large number of poor and deserving women from different villages held a demonstration in the lawn of taluka council building in protest against the Baitul Maal officer here on Monday.

Waving their passbooks, the protesters Rahiman Khatoon, Taji, Imamzadi, Jamalan, Muradan, Khairan, Suhag, Sughran Mastoi and Hasina Mastoi complained that they had been visiting the Baitul Maal office again and again but the officer was not releasing them funds.

They alleged that whenever they went to the office the officer advised them to come the next day and fixed a new date for releasing funds. When they went to the office ay they were told again to come on Sept 20, they said.

They said they were being paid funds once a year, while in fact the funds were supposed to be released and paid at least thrice a year.

They appealed to the DCO and high-ups to conduct inquiry against Baitul Maal officer Umair Ahmed Dahar.

Dahar was not available for comments. An official at his office said that Mr Dahar had fixed four day a week for each taluka for distribution of funds and on Monday he was distributing funds in Mehrabpur.

LOOTED: A gang of 15 bandits robbed hundreds of passengers after forcing vehicles to divert to link roads off the National Highway near Moro late on Sunday night.
