KARACHI: Protesters condemn Kurram killings

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 1: A protest demonstration was held at the Numaish intersection on Monday as part of the countrywide protests against the continued bloodshed in the Kurram Agency.

The sit-in was organized by the Imamia Students Organization (ISO) from the platform of the Millat-i-Jafaria, which said that people from all schools of thought were invited to take part in the protest.

Since the sit-in was staged during the evening rush hour — from 5pm to 7pm — it led to a massive traffic jam causing inconvenience to commuters.

The protesters first converged on Mehfil Shah-i-Khurasan and after emerging from the religious place, they marched up to the Numaish intersection, chanting slogans against the US and Israel.

Maulana Shamshad Husain Naqvi, Maulana Shabir Husain Mismi, Allama Aftab Haider Jaffari, Maulana Sadiq Raza Taqvi and Maulana Mirza Yousaf addressed the participants.

They condemned the government’s indifferent attitude towards the killings in Kurram Agency and its failure to contain the situation. After their speeches, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
