KARACHI, Aug 31: Habib Bank Limited (HBL) beat Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) 3-1 in the only Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) match played here at the Korangi Baloch Stadium on Sunday.

The opener came through the winners when their striker Mohammad Ishtiaq got past PIA’s goalkeeper Bilal Rafiq to score in the 18th minute. But parity was restored soon after, in the 25th minute, by PIA’s striker Shakir Lashari.

Still, even before PIA could manage a sigh of relief, the bankers scored their second through midfielder Mohammad Ibrahim in the 26th minute.

The score at interval was 2-1.

The 57th minute saw HBL score again through their other striker Zakir Lashari, who also happens to be the opponent’s striker Shakir’s brother, in order to win the 76th PPFL encounter.

Monday’s fixtures: Wapda v Pakistan Television (PTV) at Railway Stadium, Lahore; Pak Elektron Limited v Navy at Model Town Football Academy Ground, Lahore; Punjab Medical College v KRL at PMC Ground, Faisalabad; Afghan Football Club v National Bank of Pakistan at Govt High School, Chaman. All matches kickoff at 5.00pm with exception to the one in Chaman, which starts at 5.30pm.
